Insta360 has officially announced the X5, its latest flagship 360° camera. Priced at $549.99 (approx. Rs 45,900), the new device focuses on professional-grade image quality and rugged hardware upgrades, including support for 8K 360° video recording and an industry-first replaceable lens system. The camera is now available via the Insta360 Official Store, Amazon, and select retailers.
Key featuresThe Insta360 X5 introduces two major upgrades. First is its ability to shoot 8K 360° video at 30fps, powered by new 1/1.28-inch image sensors and a Triple AI Chip system. These sensors are 144% larger than those in its predecessor, the X4, offering significantly better low-light performance and image clarity. The new PureVideo mode, aimed at night shooting, uses AI for dynamic range optimisation and noise reduction.
Second, the replaceable lens system allows users to swap out damaged lenses without replacing the entire camera. Insta360 has used a new, high-strength glass that resists scratches and impact, and the brand also offers a Replacement Lens Kit for quick fixes on the go.
Other hardware features include an improved battery with 185 minutes of runtime, fast charging to 80% in 20 minutes, waterproofing up to 49ft (IP68), and enhanced audio with a built-in multi-layer Wind Guard. A magnetic mount system allows quick attachment of accessories.
The Insta360 app has received a UI refresh alongside the X5 launch, with tools like InstaFrame Mode that simultaneously capture a shareable flat video and a 360° version for reframing later. Editing options include AI Edit, Quick Edit, and a one-tap dewarp function. Insta360 Studio remains available for desktop users, and Insta360+ cloud services offer instant sharing, cloud editing, and backup.
