Google has announced that the Gmail Q&A feature is rolling out on Android devices. It is a new Gemini AI-powered feature and continues Google’s spree of packing AI in its various apps and services.
What is the Gmail Q&A feature?
Gmail Q&A offers similar functionality as the side panel on the web. Users can ask Gemini questions about their inbox or to do things like find specific details in your emails. The feature can also show you unread messages, help view messages from a specific sender, or summarise emails about a topic in your inbox.
“We are excited to help users supercharge their productivity with the help of Gemini in Gmail. Users now have even more capabilities from Gemini to help users get more done during their day at their desks and now, on the go,” said Google in a blog post.
How to use the feature?
To access Gmail Q&A on Android, users need to have smart features and personalisation turned on. Once you’ve turned that on, open Gemini in the Gmail app via the black Gemini star at the top right of your app or from a “summarise this email” chip.
Is this feature available to all users?
No. Google has rolled out the feature for Google Workspace customers with add-ons like Gemini Business, Enterprise, Education, Education Premium. The feature is also available to Google One AI Premium subscribers.
It is a gradual rollout and may take up to 15 days for feature to be visible for all users. It is not available on iOS as of now but Google has confirmed that it will roll out on iPhones soon.
