Google is giving more enhancements to its Circle to Search. Currently, this feature allows users to quickly find information on the on-screen content by circling, scribbling, or tapping on the display. It was initially launched last year with Samsung’s Galaxy S24 series. Now, with the company’s new generation of flagships, the Galaxy S25 series, Google has announced new improvements for the Circle to Search feature functionality.
Google adds two new features to Circle to Search
The first new feature integrated with Circle to Search is AI Overviews. Previously, this feature would generate a list of Google search results based on the selected content. However, now it will provide users with AI-generated summaries of the circled subject for improved visual searches. It will also provide a snapshot of what users are looking for, along with citation links for better contextual reference from the web. However, its currently limited to English only.
Another upgrade to the Circle to Search feature is the addition of one-tap actions for various custom links and addresses, such as recognised phone numbers, email addresses, and URLs. With this update, users will be able to directly call, email, or visit a website without any extra steps while selecting anything through Circle to Search. These one-tap actions make performing routine tasks faster and more efficient.
Just like last year, Google is first rolling out these new upgrades for Circle to Search with the latest Samsung Galaxy S25 series. However, with the launch of Pixel phones later in the year, we can expect these features to arrive in Google's Pixel smartphones and other Android smartphones.
