  • Google may launch Pixel 10a in February, earlier than previous A-series releases
  • Pixel 10a expected in 128GB and 256GB, with new Berry color option
  • Design and chip upgrades likely minimal, similar to Pixel 9a

Google could be shaking up its usual smartphone launch timeline this year. According to a new report, the company is expected to launch the Pixel 10a as early as February, which would be much sooner than when its A-series phones typically arrive.

The information comes from tipster Roland Quandt, who shared on Bluesky that Google plans to have the Pixel 10a available in retail stores by mid-February. This suggests that the official announcement could happen around the same time or even earlier.

If this turns out to be true, it would be a noticeable change in Google’s launch strategy. Last year, the Pixel 9a was announced in mid-March and reached stores in April, after a brief delay. Bringing the Pixel 10a forward by more than a month hints that Google may be looking to get ahead of rivals in the crowded mid-range smartphone market.

The report also sheds light on storage and color options. The Pixel 10a is said to launch in two storage variants, 128GB and 256GB. On the color front, Google appears to be sticking to its familiar palette while adding something new. The phone is expected to come in Obsidian, which is black, Fog, an off-white shade seen earlier on Pixel Buds, and Lavender, a soft purple. There is also a new color called Berry, which is likely to be a red tone. This lines up with the Berry color Google introduced on the Nest Cam last year, suggesting the company may finally be ready to bring a bold red finish to its Pixel phones.

As for upgrades, expectations are modest. Early details suggest that the Pixel 10a may not get a new Tensor chip and could retain the same overall design as its predecessor. If that holds true, the phone may feel more like a refreshed version of the Pixel 9a rather than a big leap forward. This could also mean that discounted Pixel 9a models might continue to be a strong value option for buyers.

That said, the earlier launch means we will not have to wait long to see what Google has planned. With February just around the corner, more official details should emerge soon, including pricing and availability. For now, the Pixel 10a is shaping up to be a familiar, reliable mid-range Pixel phone that simply arrives much earlier than expected.
