After launching the latest iPad Pro M4 earlier this year, Apple’s next big leap from the iPad Pro lineup is reportedly in the works. Renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has shared some exciting details about the upcoming model featuring the M5 processor, which is set to enter mass production in the second half of 2025. This aligns with Apple's iPad release cycle, which has often seen the company launch next-generation iPad Pro updates approximately every 18 months.
Apple’s upcoming iPad Pro with M5 SoC: Key details
In a new Medium post, Ming-Chi Kuo shared his expectations about the launch of the M5-powered iPad Pro. He has confirmed that mass production of the iPad Pro with the upcoming M5 SoC is expected to begin in the second half of 2025. Further, he has also confirmed that it will be assembled by China's BYD Electronics, which is also tipped to be the exclusive assembler of Apple's upcoming display-equipped HomePod.
Moreover, the M5 chipset is expected to feature an enhanced ARM architecture and will reportedly be manufactured using TSMC's advanced 3-nanometer process technology. Kuo has further mentioned that Apple's decision to go without TSMC's more advanced 2nm process for the M5 chip is believed to be due to increasing production costs.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman had also made similar claims in October. Apple currently follows a 1.5-year gap between iPad Pro launches, and this revelation suggests that with the M5-powered iPad Pro, the trend is likely to continue.
