Apple has released its latest iOS 18 Developer Beta 2 update which is packed with a host of new features. This release follows iOS 18 Developer Beta 1, which was unveiled on 10th June at the WWDC 2024 keynote. The first beta update brought several new features to iOS, such as a customisable arrangement of the apps on the home screen, app hiding, a dark mode toggle for first-party apps, the ability to hide apps, and many more.
iOS 18 Developer Beta 2: Features
The key highlight of the iOS 18 Developer Beta 2 update is the introduction of iPhone mirroring, which was showcased on June 10 at the WWDC 2024. It allows users to mirror their iPhones onto their Macs, and they can also receive calls and notifications or control the apps and transfer files between both devices via a simple drag and drop.
However, it is only activated when the MacBook paired with the iPhone is running on macOS Sequoia beta 2. Another significant addition to this update is the addition to the SharePlay screen, which allows users to control another device and draw on others' screens for various purposes.
Additionally, the update also adds a new toggle for RCS messaging in the iPhone settings, that replaces SMS on most modern smartphones, and like iMessage allows high-resolution media sharing and end-to-end encryption. However, it is currently available to limited carriers in the US.
Apple has also added a new dark-themed option for the App Store logo. The update now makes the applied wallpapers darker with a new option that tints the wallpaper.
