WhatsApp Web appears to be facing an outage, with users reporting problems accessing the platform and sending messages. According to data from Downdetector, complaints surged sharply on February 26, indicating a possible disruption in service.

The spike in reports suggests that many users were unable to load WhatsApp Web or experienced delays in message delivery. Some users also reported being logged out unexpectedly and facing issues while trying to reconnect their accounts.

Spike in reports on Downdetector

Downdetector data shows a steep rise in complaints in the last few hours, significantly higher than the typical volume for that time of day. The outage graph indicates that reports began increasing gradually before peaking sharply.

Based on user submissions, the majority of complaints — around 65 percent — relate to the website. About 30 percent of users reported issues with the app, while 5 percent flagged messaging-related problems.

Downdetector notes that such spikes often indicate a widespread service disruption rather than isolated connectivity problems.

Key problems faced by users

Users have taken to social media platforms to report that WhatsApp Web is not loading or is stuck on the QR code screen. Others say messages are not syncing between their phones and the web client.

Some users also reported delays in message delivery and difficulty accessing chats through desktop browsers.

No official response yet

At the time of writing, WhatsApp has not issued an official statement regarding the outage. It remains unclear whether the disruption is global or limited to specific regions.

Users experiencing issues can try basic troubleshooting steps such as refreshing the browser, clearing cache, or checking their internet connection. However, if the issue is server-side, it is likely to be resolved once WhatsApp restores services.
