Adobe has unveiled an artificial-intelligence (AI) tool, Student Spaces, within its popular PDF software, Adobe Acrobat. This feature is aimed at helping students manage coursework, organise study materials, and prepare for exams. It is currently available as a beta version for free via the web, and the feature initially does not require a login. Moreover, Student Spaces supports everything from daily study tasks to long-term career preparation.
Student Spaces in Adobe Acrobat: Here’s how it works
Student Spaces in Adobe Acrobat is designed to support basic and advanced academic tasks, particularly for students, such as classes, assignments, group projects, internships, and career planning, by bringing multiple tools into a single workspace. It allows Acrobat users to upload over 100 files to the platform, including PDFs, Docs, PowerPoint, Excel, URLs, links, handwritten notes, and transcripts. Based on these inputs, Student Spaces allows the creation of a wide range of study materials such as flashcards, quizzes, mind maps, videos, podcasts, and editable presentations
With this launch, Adobe is trying to compete with other popular study-related AI tools like Google’s NotebookLM, Goodnotes, and Turbo AI, all of which allow students to upload documents to generate a variety of study materials. The company has also revealed that the tool has been tested with over 500 students, including multiple groups from prestigious universities such as Harvard, Berkeley, and Brown.
To use Student Spaces, Acrobat users can upload all sorts of documents, including PDFs, Docs, PowerPoint, Excel, URLs, handwritten notes, and transcript files, and then generate different study materials. This move builds on Adobe’s earlier push into collaborative and AI-powered workflows, such as the recently introduced PDF Spaces, a feature designed for professionals to organise files and generate content like presentations using simple prompts. Acrobat Student Spaces is now in public beta and available for free.
