Amazon has introduced a new version of its Kindle Paperwhite in India. This latest model comes with a larger display, quicker page turns, and a thinner, lighter design. It has been launched for readers who prefer distraction-free digital reading and want better performance without switching to a tablet or phone.

Price and availability

The new Kindle Paperwhite is now available in India for Rs 16,999 and comes in a Black colour variant. You can buy it from Amazon.in. Optional fabric covers are also available in Black, Marine Green, and Tulip Pink, priced at Rs 1,999 each.

What’s new in the latest Kindle Paperwhite

The new Kindle Paperwhite features a 7-inch glare-free display—the biggest yet in the Paperwhite lineup. Despite the larger screen, it’s thinner and lighter, which makes it easier to carry around. The screen also includes an oxide thin-film transistor for better contrast, which helps text and images appear sharper.

Under the hood, there’s a dual-core processor that makes page turns 25% faster and improves the overall response time while navigating books or the Kindle library. Battery life is another highlight, with the device offering up to 12 weeks on a single USB-C charge, depending on usage.

Like earlier models, this one includes adjustable warm light and dark mode, which can help reduce eye strain in different lighting conditions. It’s also waterproof, and the 16GB internal storage allows users to carry thousands of books without worrying about space.

Readers still get popular Kindle features like X-Ray for looking up characters or events, a built-in dictionary, and Word Wise for quick definitions. Setting up the Kindle has been simplified too, especially if you’re using the Kindle app on Android or iOS.
With access to over 1.5 crore titles, including regional language options like Hindi, Tamil, and Marathi, the new Kindle Paperwhite continues to focus on giving book lovers more ways to read. Those with Kindle Unlimited or Amazon Prime can also explore additional free reading options through their subscriptions.
