India at Olympics Day 4 results: It was a great day for India as Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh gave the country its second medal at the Paris Olympics. The two combined to win the bronze medal in the 10m air pistol mixed event, which also saw Manu becoming the first Indian to win two medals in a single edition of the Olympics.
The Indian hockey team, who had not been at their best so far, showed great composure and defeated Ireland 2-0 in the Pool B encounter. India had previously won a match and engaged in a 1-1 tie against Argentina, however, the performance was far from convincing. On Tuesday we saw the unit maintain a more aggressive approach and it was evident in the results.
The biggest disappointment of the day were the Indian boxers. Amit Panghal failed to live up to his reputation and made an early exit. The pugilist was outmuscled 1-4 by Zambia's Patrick Chinyemba in men's 51kg round of 16 bout. Apart from him, Jaismine Lamboria endured a unanimous decision loss against Philippines' Nesthy Petecio in women's 57kg round of 32 bout. Preeti Pawar's defeat was however the toughest. She gave a close fight to Colombia's Yeni Marcela Arias, a quarterfinalist at the Tokyo 2020 Games, but faced a tough 2-3 split decision loss against in the women's 54kg Round of 16 bout.
