India opener Rohit Sharma and vice-captain Shreyas Iyer were engaged in a humorous conversation during their 118-run partnership for the third wicket in Thursday's second ODI against Australia at the Adelaide Oval.
India were struggling at 17 for 2 after being asked to bat, with Virat Kohli and captain Shubman Gill returning to the dressing room cheaply.
Rohit Sharma (79) and Shreyas Iyer (61) then stitched a rescue act to save the visitors, which helped the team pile 264/9. Axar Patel (44) and Harshit Rana (24 not out) also made vital contributions.
The conversation between Rohit and Iyer was captured on the stump microphone. Here is how it went...
Rohit Sharma: "Aae Shreyas, hoyega yeh! (There was a run)."
Shreyas Iyer: "Arrey aap karke dekho, mere ko mat bolna fir (Don't blame me later)."
Rohit Sharma: "Arrey, tereko call dena padega (You will have to give me the call)."
Rohit Sharma: "Wo saatva over daal raha hai yaar (He's bowling the seventh over, man)."
Shreyas Iyer: "Mujhe uska angle pata nahi hai. Call do na! (I don't know his angle. Just give me the call)."
Rohit Sharma: "Mai nahi de sakta hu ye call (I can't)."
Shreyas Iyer: "Saamne hai aapke (He's right in front of you)."

Similar to the previous ODI, the Australian pacers were outstanding during the powerplay, making life difficult for the Indian batters. Xavier Bartlett got rid of Gill and Kohli in the same over. Josh Hazlewood was unfortunate not to take a wicket despite bowling with accuracy.
Rohit and Iyer stabilized the innings before Starc broke the partnership, which had started to appear threatening.
Later India appeared to be on the verge of collapse at 226/8, but a vital 37-run partnership between Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh for the ninth wicket helped the side to a reasonable total.
