The first knockout match of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 will see Harmanpreet Kaur’s Mumbai Indians (MI) take on Smriti Mandhana’s Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Friday, March 15. The toss will take place at 7pm India time and the first ball is scheduled for 7:30pm. The match will be broadcast by Viacom 18’s Sports 18 channels and live-streamed on JioCinema 6:30pm onwards.
The last time MI and RCB clashed in the WPL was on March 12, when Ellyse Perry (she leaked just 15 runs for six wickets and then hit an unbeaten 40 off 38 balls) and Richa Ghosh (36 off 28 deliveries) helped the Bangalore franchise win comprehensively by seven wickets with 30 balls remaining.

The first WPL Eliminator of 2024 will be held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, formerly known as the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, in New Delhi. The venue has held nine league games of WPL 2024 so far, and will be hosting the final on Sunday, too, for which the Delhi Capitals, runners-up in the inaugural edition, have already earned direct qualification by virtue of finishing atop the WPL points table in the league stage with six wins from eight games, which earned them 12 points.

MI: Charlotte Edwards, the former England captain who helmed MI’s title-winning campaign at the inaugural WPL is in charge of the defending champions at the ongoing season, too. Edwards, 44, has built a sparkling coaching CV since retiring from international cricket in 2016 and professional cricketer overall the following year.
RCB: Australian coach Luke Williams, a former South Australia first-class player, was named head coach of RCB ahead of the WPL 2024 season. He replaced compatriot Ben Sawyer in the role. Williams, 44, spent four seasons as the Adelaide Strikers’ head coach in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) in Australia and was in charge of their inaugural title-winning campaign in 2022-23 after two previous finishes as runners-up.
