When you lose a game, everything hurts. It's not just about those 10 overs. You have to play consistent cricket and we failed to do that today. Little disappointed but these things happen. You got to adapt what's in front of you. With left-right, we felt it'll be easier to rotate strike. Credit to Jeffrey, he got six wickets. The reason I got 65 is because of the way I batted. When I am batting like that, there's a lot of risks taken. If you don't cross the line, you always feel disappointed. I don't want to compromise on my intent. We understand nature of this surface, it gets really tough in the middle overs. You have to try to get as many as possible in the powerplay. We weren't good enough. Don't want to look too much into how we played. But there'll be talks about our batting in the middle overs.

"There was a lot of pressure coming into the side. I was coming off a layoff. I had to do something. It's easy to take credit with a spell like this but I want to give credit to the batters also for taking us to such a competitive total. No doubt Wanindu Hasaranga is our No. 1 spinner, but I got to understand the atmosphere of the team and selections and team balance. It's tough, but I have to keep motivating myself. There was assistance on the wicket so I was trying to hit the good areas and do the basics right. This is my first game after some time so I had to bowl in good areas. Once I got the first wicket it built up confidence also. I kept hitting the right areas and with God's grace I was able to get six wickets."

Poor batting performance by Team India except Rohit Sharma and Axar Patel led the team to a shameful defeat against Sri Lanka. Team India lost the match by 32 runs chasing just 241-run target. Barring Rohit Sharma and a fighting innings by Axar Patel, none of the batsmen looked like they were comfortable in the middle. Not to forget a wonderful performance by Vandersay who finished his spell with 33 runs for 6 wickets was decisive in the match and almost forced India to surrender.

Asalanka gets Mohammed Siraj out LBW. India lose their 9th wicket and Lankans are just one wicket away from a victory that will be remembered for long. India 201/9.

Indians are struggling with 8 wickets down and there are two bowlers on the crease with still 50 runs to be made. Siraj and Kuldeep are there and there is little hope for India ahead in this match.

Asalanka gets the big wicket of Washington Sundar who was putting up some fight from Indian side to chase the target of 241 runs. India are 190/8 in 35.3 overs.

Tossed up close to off stump, lands it a little too much in Axar's arc, and he gets his front leg out of the way and brings his bat down straight and extends his arms, finishing with right elbow high as the ball soars over the long-on boundary. India 180/6 in 31 overs.

Team India is struggling at 168/6 at the end of 30 overs with Washington Sundar and Axar Patel still in the middle.

Sri Lanka is exerting maximum pressure on the Indian batsmen struggling with six wickets down already. Sundar and Axar are trying to score as many runs as possible. India 159/6 in 28 overs.

India have lost 6 wickets for only 155 runs chasing 241 runs against Sri Lanka. Washington Sundar and Axar Patel are in the middle taking the team towards the target but at the moment it looks a difficult task.

Goes back and across to defend, and it rips back into him and leaves him almost doubled over. Did it turn too much? That could save Kohli, potentially. Rohit Sharma goes for reverse sweep against Vendersay, edges the ball and caught by Nissanka. Nevertheless, he has played an excellent innings for the team. India 97/1.

This time Rohit Sharma likes the length of this flighted ball outside off. Lands right in his arc to slog-sweep over the boundary at deep midwicket and over the fence and into the stand too. India 95/0 after 13 overs.

Axar Patel bowls a fuller to Wellalage and he smashes it towards the midwicket boundary for six runs. It seems that Sri Lanka is now changing gears with depriciating overs. SL 188/6 after 44 overs.

Sri Lanka are 161/6 at the end of 40 overs. With 6 wickets down there is very limited scope for Lankan batsmen to score. However, Wellalage is still on the crease and he was the top scorer in the last match.

Rohit Sharma was seen trying his hands with the ball in practice session and here he is, bowling the 38th over for India.

Sri Lanka are 145/6 after 37 overs as Washington Sundar completes his spell of 30 runs for 3 wickets. He got wickets for India at regular intervals and never really allowed the batsmen to settle down in the middle.

Charitha Asalanka is out now to Sundar's bowling. Once again both set batsmen are out in quick succession for Sri Lanka. With 6 wickets down, there will be very limited scope for Lankan batsmen to score big against India. SL 136/6.

Kuldeep gets breakthrough for India as Liyanage gets out on his bowling. Tossed up slow outside off, and Liyanage perishes to the slowness of this surface. Looks to drive with the bat a long way in front of his body, and has to roll his wrists over to complete the stroke. Can't keep the ball down, though, and hits it straight back at the bowler. SL 136/5.

Sri Lanka are 129 runs for the loss of 4 wickets at the end of 30 overs. Asalanka and Liyanage are playing well in the middle and occasionally hitting boundaries to add to the total score. This wicket will give enough challenge to the batsmen in the second innings so Lankan batsmen are looking to score as many runs as possible.

Batsman steps out now, and Axar slowed this down nicely outside off. Nowhere near the pitch of it as he looks to go over mid-on. It grips and turns, though, and all he manages to do is slice it high in the air for Kohli to get under at cover. SL 111/4.

Sri Lanka have crossed the 100-run mark in their 25th over. The wicket is slow and turning and it may not be a high-scoring match. Just like the last match India may have to struggle to chase the score set by Lanka batting first.

Sri Lanka are 98/3 at the end of 24 overs. Middle order batsmen have taken charge of the proceedings and they are going steady in the middle against Indian bowling attack.

At the end of 20 overs, Sri Lanka are 81 runs for the loss of three wickets. With Kusal Mendis and Avishka Fernando, Lankans were looking well settled but double strike by Sundar has given them a setback.

With Mendis, both the Sri Lanka set batsmen are back in the pavilion and the pressure is back on the host side to stabilize the innings and score runs as well. SL 79/3.

He's lobbed that back to Washington! Avishka was looking good and that's a soft dismissal. This is tossed up on leg. Avishka closes the bat early as he tries to tuck it to the leg side and gets a leading edge that pops up back to the bowler. And India strike right before the drinks break. SL 74/2 in 17 overs.

Sri Lanka are going well with a score of 58 runs for the loss of one wicket in 15 overs. Indian bowlers are struggling to get wickets against the partnership of Mendis and Fernando. The wicket is not very comfortable to bat on. Just like last match there is turn in the wicket.

Sharp turn and bounce, and umpire Paul Reiffel raises a belated finger after India half-appeal for caught behind. Mendis has reviewed. Axar slows it up, drops it on a length just outside off, and Mendis, coming forward to defend, is quite a long way from the pitch of the ball. Turns a long way, and it looks like he's missed it completely. Yeah. His bat comes down really close to his pad, and there may have been a sound because of that, but even that sound wasn't picked up by Ultra Edge. SL 49/1 after 12 overs.

At the end of 10 overs, Sri Lanka are 42 at the loss of just one wicket. Pathum Nissanka got out on the first ball of the innings and since then Mendis and Fernando are playing in a solid manner and stabilizing the innings after an early shock.

What's happened here? Looks like Mendis has twisted his right ankle here. Shortish, just outside off, doesn't quite come on to the bat as Mendis looks to pull, and he plays it to midwicket, on the bounce off the inside half of his bat. In the process, he's turned his right knee as he half-swivelled into the shot. The Sri Lanka physio has come onto the field. SL 25/1.
