India vs England 3rd Test Day 5 Live Score: Ravindra Jadeja produced a valiant show to keep the Indians hope alive but at the end he could only delay the inevitable as England won the Lord's Test by 22 runs on Day 5. The outcome saw England take a 2-1 lead in the five-match series with the next encounter set to be played at Manchester from July 23. Meanwhile, Jadeja staged a lone battle and found support from tailenders Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj. The all-rounder returned unbeaten on 61 as India were all-out for 170. The match would have been over early in the second session but Jadeja's resilience was brilliantly complimented by Bumrah and the baton was then passed to Siraj. Together Jadeja and Bumrah added 35 runs for the ninth wicket before Bumrah ran out of patience and attempted a wild pull against Stokes, which led to his wicket for 5 off 54 balls. Jadeja then went to complete his half-century and kept the team in hunt with Siraj alongside, who survived 20 deliveries before the second session came to an end. Siraj was eventually dismissed for 4 off 30 balls in the most dramatic way possible. He tapped a ball with soft hands by Shoaib Bashir, following which it bounced on the pitch and rolled back onto the stumps to crush India's hope of salvaging a win from the jaws of defeat.

In the session, England almost tried to throw everything at the duo of Jadeja and Bumrah, but nothing worked until Bumrah decided to take the matter into his own hands and played a false stroke. The ball definitely went softer, and the wicket too stopped responding a bit. However, irrespective of the condition of the ball and the pitch, one would have expected England to wrap this up in the 2nd session, but they have failed to do so. There was a moment in the 2nd session when Jadeja was adjudged LBW on the bowling of Woakes, but that was overturned, and since then Jadeja, along with Bumrah and then with Siraj, has patiently ground it out. Right then, the final session of this game promises to be a box office script, as England has 1 wicket to take and India are still 30 runs short of the target. Well, well, who would have thought that with India 8 wickets down at Lunch, this Test would see the final session? India began at 112/8, and everyone thought it was the last session, but it wasn't. All thanks to Jadeja and Bumrah, who skittled their way through most of the session, adding 35 runs for the 9th wicket. The strategy from the duo was simple, as Jadeja looked to bat the majority of the balls in the over before crossing over. Bumrah, on the other hand, did a fine job staying at the crease before he ran out of patience to provide England the breakthrough.
