A Chinese firm has captured attention online for handing out 180 million yuan (US$26 million or Rs 235.82 crore) in year-end bonuses out of 270 million yuan in profits. According to the South China Morning Post, Henan Kuangshan Crane Co., Ltd. celebrated its annual gala on February 13, awarding more than 60 million yuan (US$8.7 million) in cash bonuses directly to employees at the event.

With 800 tables set up for around 7,000 attendees, the event allowed employees to come on stage to receive their reward. In other interactive sessions, they counted the cash themselves and could keep whatever they tallied.

Videos circulating online showed employees counting cash laid out on long tables, while others carried bundles of notes on stage, some struggling to hold it all.

Boss Cui Peijun called the finance team on stage during the gala, saying, “Why are we giving out washing machines? Do you think gold prices have gone up? In previous years, we gave necklaces and rings, brought up the cash and gave everyone another 20,000 yuan (US$2,800).”

When including bonuses given online, the firm’s total year-end payouts surpassed 180 million yuan.

Established in September 2002, the firm’s 2025 profits of 270 million yuan meant almost 70% was distributed among 7,000 employees, according to the South China Morning Post.

The company manufactures and provides services for cranes and material handling, products, and operations in more than 130 countries worldwide. Cui holds approximately 98.88% of the company’s shares.

The company recorded a 2024 net profit of 260 million yuan (US$38 million / Rs 344.46 crore), sharing 170 million yuan with its employees.

Earlier in March, for International Women’s Day, the company rewarded nearly 1.6 million yuan (US$230,000) in bonuses to 2,000 women employees.

The company’s frequent cash rewards have led netizens to dub “the boss who loves giving out money the most”.

Responding to the nickname, Cui said: “It is not that I love giving out money, it is that young people are burdened with car loans and mortgages and any relief we can offer helps.”
