Crowd takes on alleged moral policing, internet cheers

A viral video circulating on social media shows a tense confrontation inside a public park on Valentine’s Day, where a group of men carrying sticks and claiming links to Bajrang Dal were challenged and chased away by members of the public. The clip has drawn widespread attention, with many online praising the crowd for standing up against harassment and intimidation in a shared public space.

In the video, several young men wearing saffron-coloured shawls are seen entering the park and allegedly harassing couples. They are also seen holding sticks, which onlookers said appeared intended to threaten or provoke violence. Their presence quickly drew the attention of other park-goers, who questioned why they were disturbing people celebrating Valentine’s Day.

One man from the crowd is heard directly confronting the group, asking who they were and why they were carrying sticks inside the park. The men replied that they belonged to Bajrang Dal. The response only intensified the questioning, with the crowd demanding proof of identity and leadership details.

“You cannot create trouble in the name of Bajrang Dal. Show us your ID cards. Who is your leader?” members of the crowd are heard saying in the video. When the men failed to produce any identification, people warned that police complaints would be filed against them.

Moments later, as more bystanders gathered and the questioning continued, the group fled the park. The video ends with the alleged miscreants retreating, while the crowd remains behind, visibly angry but relieved.

Internet applauds crowd

The clip has since gone viral, triggering strong reactions online. Many users applauded the courage of ordinary citizens who intervened instead of remaining silent. “This is what should be done everywhere. Be fearless. Get together and stand against unnecessary harassment,” one user commented.

Others used the moment to reflect on broader social issues. One post criticised the influence of caste, religion, and politics, calling the incident a grim reflection of what future generations are being taught. Another user drew sharp parallels between moral policing and extremist ideologies, arguing that violence justified in the name of culture or religion is deeply dangerous.
