Ravichandran Ashwin became only the second bowler after Anil Kumble to reach the landmark of 500 Test wickets and achieved the feat in his 98th Test match and was congratulated by many on social media.

Ravichandran Ashwin took the second fewest number of balls to reach the landmark (25714) after Glenn McGrath (25528) and was the fastest Indian bowler to get to 500 Test wickets.


Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin ended his wait to get his 500th Test wicket on Friday, when he dismissed Zak Crawley for 15 in England's first innings at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot on Friday.

The 37-year-old became only the second bowler after Anil Kumble to reach the landmark and achieved the feat in his 98th Test match.

Social media congratulated the spinner after he got to the landmark. Here are some of the reactions:



Ashwin took the second fewest number of balls to reach the landmark (25714) after Glenn McGrath (25528) and was the fastest Indian bowler to get to 500 Test wickets.


Ashwin had overtaken Kapil Dev's tally of 434 wickets during the Test match against Sri Lanka at Mohali in 2022.

India ended their first innings at the score of 445, thanks to hundreds from Rohit Sharma (131) and Ravindra Jadeja (112).
