Umesh Yadav bags job in RBI

Finally fulfilling his father’s wishes of him being a government official, the ace fast bowler Umesh Yadav has been appointed as an assistant manager in Reserve Bank of India’s Nagpur office.

The Indian spearhead completed the joining formalities on Monday, a day before leaving for the upcoming Sri Lankan tour, reported The Times of India.

Nearly 10 years ago, then 19-year-old budding pacer had prepared and applied for the post of constable in the police department. He couldn’t, however, clear the exam missing it by a slight margin.

The talks between him and the RBI had been going for a while. Quoting a source, the report said: "The talks were on before the Champions Trophy. He had met RBI officials before leaving for England in May. The officials gave a go ahead to his appointment in sports quota but due to national duties he couldn't complete formalities."

The bowler, who is also popularly known as Vidarbha Express, had a chance of getting the job in Air India as well. In 2008, he had got his first contract with Air India.

However, despite performing well, the national carrier did not provide him with a permanent job.
