A young girl’s quick thinking has caught the eye of the internet after she rescued two children from a lift that failed to respond to its safety sensors. The incident, recorded on CCTV, has drawn admiration for her courage and raised concerns about lift safety standards.
The footage, shared on X (formerly Twitter), shows two young girls standing inside a lift while an older child is outside speaking to them. Suddenly, the doors begin to close. The older girl, slightly bigger in age, quickly places herself between the doors to stop them.
Lift doors usually reopen if something is in the way, but in this case, they did not. As the doors kept closing, the two children were in danger of being trapped. The young girl quickly stepped forward and put her hands between the doors to stop them, while a woman nearby helped her.
When the doors opened a little, the girl stood in the gap and used her hands to keep them from closing. She picked up one of the children and handed her to a woman, while the other child was guided to safety by another adult. Afterwards, one of the women also helped the girl out. The exact date and location of the incident have not been confirmed.
The video quickly gained attention online, with viewers expressing admiration for the girl’s courage and quick thinking. Many took to social media to share their reactions and praise her actions. One wrote, “This is an act of humanity and bravery at the same time.”
Another said, “It’s incredible how a little girl would do that. She must have been very brave and confident. God bless and keep her safe.” Others commented, “This girl’s quick thinking and bravery just saved two little lives. Absolute hero moment!” and “She is a hero.”

The incident has also raised questions about lift safety. Many noted that the obstruction detection system failed to work which may have caused major accident. One user commented, “This is unacceptable. If the obstruction detection system failed, the manufacturer and maintenance team must be questioned. That door should have reopened instantly.”
Others highlighted the need for supervision and proper maintenance. “It’s definitely elevators fault but also negligence of parents. Those kids shouldn’t be in lift without parents or guardian,” said one person. Another added, “Incredible bravery, but this also shows how important proper elevator maintenance is.”
