Anupam Mittal, founder of People Group and a judge at the popular business reality show Shark Tank India, called Microsoft CEO Sam Altman's move to hire OpenAI's Sam Altman one of the "biggest coups in history". The "Shark", who appeared to be following the developments at the ChatGPT-making company after it abruptly ousted its CEO, Altman, also invited him to help build foundational AI models for India.
"Hat-tip to Satya Nadella for pulling one of the biggest coups of history and the future by hiring Sam Altman and team," Anupam Mittal wrote on X. "Watch Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg as they circle a depleted OpenAI destroyed eventually by its board, the very people who were put in place to protect humanity."
He was referring to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella's announcement on Monday that OpenAI's former CEO Sam Altman was joining the tech giant to lead a new advanced AI research team after he was abruptly sacked by OpenAI's board of directors. The move saw OpenAI employees revolt against the board. One of the first people to react against the backlash was fellow co-founder Greg Brockman. He quit hours after the announcement while a majority of the rest of the employees threatened to resign en masse if the company's board of directors failed to step down.
"This is what you get when you try to build disruptive tech with board-run companies and exotic management structures. Get with the programme and stop behaving like elitist punks operating with total impunity. If you can’t make good decisions or stand behind the ones you made, resign," Anupam Mittal added, referring to the OpenAI board of directors.

The Shark Tank India judge concluded his note on X wondering if the world needs a different approach towards artificial intelligence and India's possible role in it. "Perhaps, the world needs a unique approach towards AI and India can play a role like we did in digital infra," Mittal said.
