Social media users hailed Amal Sony's spirit as his post went viral.

Lakhs of students from India apply to prestigious foreign universities every year in hopes of securing admissions and earning degrees that have recognition everywhere. Some secure admissions and realise their dreams, others face rejection. Something similar happened with a man named Amal Sony. He got a rejection letter from California's top university, Stanford, and posted it on X with a motivational thought.

Sony shared a picture of the letter that he received from Stanford. “I am very sorry to let you know we are unable to offer you admission to Stanford. This decision in no way diminishes your application, which we know was completed with thoughtfulness and care,” the letter read.

“We were inspired by the hopes and dreams your application represents. We were humbled by the talent, commitment, and heart you bring to your academics, extracurricular activities, work, and family responsibilities. Simply put, we wish we had more space in the first-year class.”

“I got rejected from @stanford today. I’m still going to change the world though,” Sony wrote while sharing the post.

The post has amassed over 8 lakh views since being shared online. Social media users boosted Sony’s morale and hailed his spirit in the comments section.

“Go, go, go. Rejection is merely redirection. Keep climbing,” one user wrote. Another user commented, “Sounds like a beginning of a movie. Good luck Amal.”

“I got rejected by Stanford in 2013 for the class of 2017. I dropped out of my safety school, joined a fast-growing tech company, and in 2016 I spent a day at Stanford doing campus interviews for the class of 2017--the same students who were picked over me for admission,” a third user remarked.

A fourth user added, “Keep running, Amal! It opens doors for the first few jobs, but the degree becomes irrelevant as people gain real experience and sort themselves by output. Also, all of the knowledge you expected to gain is still available to you.”
