The incident has triggered a discussion on social media about the lengths to which content creators are willing to go for the sake of creating reels.
"People are going crazy these days over making reels. Misusing reels in public can harm others’ comfort and dignity," wrote X user Younish P (@younishpthn). "Everyday morality is touching new lows in the country," commented Partho (@Partho39174407).
In a related incident earlier this year, two influencers were slammed after they stopped their vehicle on a busy Delhi flyover to make an Instagram reel, causing traffic jams. In a video shared on Instagram, the influencers could be seen getting down from a golden-coloured car after parking the vehicle in the middle of a flyover to make a reel. An NDTV report said that the incident took place on a flyover near Paschim Vihar near North Delhi during peak traffic hours.
Social media users hit out at them for holding up traffic to make the reel. Some users also shared the video on X and tagged Delhi police, urging them to take action against them.
