Concerns over public behaviour and respect for national icons have come sharply into focus after a video went viral online. The clip has reignited conversations about civic sense and how public spaces are treated in India.

In the video, a man is allegedly seen urinating on a wall displaying a portrait of Subhash Chandra Bose, widely known as Netaji. The footage, first shared on the Instagram page “Bikers of Bihar,” quickly spread across X and other platforms, drawing strong reactions from netizens.

When confronted in the video, the accused reportedly said he “did not notice the image” before walking away, seemingly unconcerned about the offence. The original post was shared with the caption that read, “Civic sense ain’t just rules—it’s respect for space, people & planet. Drop litter? Nah. Share lanes? Yes. Smile at strangers? Always. Small acts = Big change.” According to multiple reports, the video is from Bihar, although the exact date and location remain unverified.

The video sparked outrage on social media. Many users described the act as disrespectful, particularly because it involved a revered freedom fighter. One X user reshared the video and wrote, “Zero Civic Sense. No respect for freedom fighters either. Welcome to India (Bihar).”

Another user said, “Sometimes I feel that the more educated people become, the more foolish they act.” A third added, “Civic sense should be the next trend in India.”

Some users also commented on the state of public monuments and murals, with one writing, “This is why I am against public statues and paintings of eminent personalities, tameez yahan kisi ko hai nahi, maintenance hota nahi. Apmaan hai ye unka. (No one here has any manners, and there is no maintenance. This is an insult to them.)”

Subhash Chandra Bose remains one of India’s most respected freedom fighters. Many demanded legal action against the man, arguing that insulting national icons or damaging public property should carry serious consequences.
