An Indian man became an unexpected sensation while attending a traditional festival in a remote village in China’s Yunnan province, where local residents gathered around him and reportedly clicked more than 1,000 photographs in a single day.

The man, named Advik, shared a video of his experience on Instagram. The clip showed him surrounded by villagers during a local festival organised by the Hani tribal community, close to the China–Vietnam border. What began as a cultural visit soon turned into an unusual moment, as villagers lined up to take pictures with him.

According to Advik, he had travelled to the region to explore village life and local traditions. Explaining the location, he said, “I had come to China to explore a village in Yunnan province, which is 15 km away from the Vietnam border. This place is in China's border area, and there is a tribe here called the Hani tribe.”

Yunnan province, located in south-west China, is known for its ethnic diversity and is home to several recognised tribal groups. Advik attended a festival organised by the Hani community, where villagers wore traditional attire and took part in cultural activities. In the video, he is seen wearing the tribe’s traditional dress. Advik explained in the video, “All the people you see in front of you have worn their tribe's costume. So even I decided to look like them and I also wore their costume.”

Soon after, villagers began gathering around him. Many posed for photographs, while others approached him out of curiosity. Advik described the scale of attention he received during the day. “So a lot of local people were very excited to see me and they took photos with me. And today I took more than 1000 photos in a single day and a lot of people were very excited. So after that we participated in a lot of activities,” he said.

The clip also provides a brief look at the festival setting, showing decorated areas, traditional clothing and local food prepared for the occasion. Advik shared visuals of meals served during the celebrations, offering viewers a look at regional dishes commonly prepared during such events.

Towards the end of the video, Advik reflected on the experience and expressed surprise at the level of attention he received. He said, “I had never thought in my life that I would get celebrity treatment in this village of China.” The video also includes on-screen text that reads, “That's how Chinese people treat foreigners.”
