A video shared by a foreign tourist has stirred concern online, raising questions about safety and conduct in Delhi. The viral clip shows an encounter that left the passenger uncomfortable.
In the footage, posted on Instagram by @daviddxiao, the traveller alleged that an auto-rickshaw driver repeatedly offered illegal services during the ride, despite being refused several times. The passenger further claimed that the driver discussed the “availability of young women” and even “mentioned prices” during the journey, making the tourist feel pressured.
At one point in the video, the driver attempted to highlight the age range of the women he claimed to offer. He said,“If you are agree for you, good girls only for 18-20 age and not like the 40-50.” Despite the tourist’s repeated refusals, the driver continued to make such remarks throughout.
After sharing his experience online, the traveller expressed how uneasy the situation made him feel from start to finish. He described the persistent offers and pressure as very uncomfortable and unsettling. He shared another video of the driver exposing his name and identity. He captioned it, “Just use Uber in Delhi guys. Much more trustworthy.”
The video quickly drew attention on social media. Users urged the authorities to act and demanded strict legal measures against the driver. One user even suggested a strong punishment to send a clear message to service providers, writing, “@delhi.police_official Could you please show this guy the way to prison for 20 mins with Danda parade?”
Others emphasised that the driver’s actions reflected poorly on the country and should be addressed legally. A user wrote, “The driver should be arrested @delhi.police_official they are representing India.”
Some users offered words of relief and encouragement to the tourist, praising him for avoiding a dangerous situation. One said, “Brother you escaped the trap. Congratulations.”
Many local users warned that such incidents could happen to anyone and advised caution. One comment noted the risks while travelling in unregulated transport, “Be very, very careful. Pretty dangerous. Stay safe. Get out of the auto. In Delhi, anything is possible. We Indians ourselves are cautious.”
Many people tagged the official Delhi Police account on social media and asked them to take strict action against the driver to keep passengers safe and stop this from happening again.
