After torrential rainfall in Bengaluru, residents of Yelahanka were in for a surprise when they found fish in the flooded basement of Kendriya Vihar -- an apartment that was also home to late President DR APJ Abdul Kalam.
Visuals circulating on social media show residents and firemen holding their catch of the day while trying to pump water out of the basement.

Local reports also stated that some Kendriya Vihar residents are so frustrated with the seasonal flooding that they have put their flats up for sale.
Bengaluru had come to a standstill after receiving heavy rainfall for two days due to a low-pressure system developing over the southeastern Bay of Bengal, leading to unstable weather conditions. The India Meteorological Department had issued a yellow alert for Bengaluru Urban and other districts in Karnataka including Ramanagara, Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan, and Kodagu on October 16-17, warning of possible heavy rains.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Wednesday lashed out at the opposition parties for shaming Bengaluru over the rain fury.
“It is not possible to control nature. The government is doing the best it can to manage the rain havoc. The opposition parties must stop tarnishing the image of Bengaluru,” he said while speaking to reporters at his Sadashivanagar residence.
Asked about the heavy rains in Bengaluru, Shivakumar, who holds the Bengaluru development portfolio, said, “A holiday has been declared for schools as a precautionary measure. There is a likelihood of more rain today, which may lead to traffic jams. The public should plan accordingly.”
