Bengaluru man alleges harassment by Ola auto driver for using Rapido bike: 'These local goons have their own circle'

A Bengaluru man shared a harrowing experience with an Ola auto driver in the city, who allegedly harassed him for booking a Rapido bike after the former refused to accept his payment.

Sharing the experience on Reddit, the man said that the incident took place while he was travelling from HSR layout to Whitefield and on reaching the destination, the auto driver declined to take the payment, which forced the commuter to book a Rapido bike.

"Hello fellow Bangaloreans. I wanted to share a horrid experience I had last night with a gunda auto wala(Vehicle number-KA02 AC4309)."

"Had booked an Ola auto from HSR to Whitefield at a certain price however upon arrival, the driver refused to accept my ride at that amount. I cancelled and tried looking for other options. However, he kept standing next to me and was continuously trying to instigate me to fight him."

"I kept my cool and continued looking for other options. Finally, I was able to book a Rapido bike. To my horror, he warned me that he would beat the Rapido driver and me," the user wrote.

The Reddit user further said that when his Rapido bike arrived at the location, the auto driver removed the key from the bike, started fighting with the commuter and called other auto drivers to join in.

"When my Rapido arrived, this gunda removed the key from the Rapido driver’s bike and started fighting with him."

"This gunda called other gunda rickshaw walas and circled us. All this time, we were trying to get help from Bengaluru Police Force but the amount of back and forth we had to do just to register our problem was tiring and scary. We held our ground and the police arrived after 15 minutes. We were taken to the HSR police station where they made us sit for 3 hours just to get our complaint registered."

"That gunda driver had called his higher ups to make me take my case back but me and that rapido driver we didn’t budge," the user wrote.

The commuter added that one of the police authorities registered a case and had called the Reddit user and others to meet a senior police official to find a resolution.
