Former India captain Anil Kumble was seen taking a Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus from the Bengaluru airport on Monday. The 52-year-old former leg-spinner shared a photo on X (formerly Twitter) of him taking a bus from the airport.
From the photo, it could be seen that Kumble had taken an air-conditioned Volvo bus from the airport to his house, with passengers seated behind him.

The post saw several comments from users, many of whom appreciated Kumble and thanked him for supporting public transport.
"Excellent. Elites of society using public transport is good for society. And Kumble is gold standard anyway," one user wrote.
"We need icons to advertise public transport like this. That way, we will have less traffic," another user wrote.
The former leg-spinner's gesture of taking a bus from the airport was appreciated by Karnataka transport minister Ramalinga Reddy who said Kumble had set an "inspiring example" by using public transport.

A reason for Kumble to take the airport bus and not a cab could be that airport cabs are among the participants in the strike. However, BMTC buses including the "Vayu Vajra" airport service decided not to participate in the strike and opted to continue operations in the city.
The call for strike forced some schools to declare a holiday on Monday and some schools were forced to reschedule exams, as well.
