Delhi’s Select Citywalk Mall witnessed an unusual scene today morning – a large crowd of people gathering inside the mall well ahead of its official opening time. The crowd was made up of people hoping to be among the first to enter the Apple Saket store which is opening today.
Apple Saket is the tech giant’s second official retail store in India which will be inaugurated by Apple CEO Tim Cook today. Doors will open at 10 am today, i.e., April 20.

The long queues of Apple enthusiasts extended outside the mall too as fans jostled to catch a glimpse of the store and the company’s CEO Tim Cook, whose appearance in India has made headlines. Many people were seen holding their Apple devices as they waited for the Apple Store inauguration.
Tim Cook has had a packed schedule since he landed in India earlier this week to inaugurate Apple’s two official retails stores in the country. He had earlier inaugurated the Apple BKC store in Mumbai, where he met and interacted with several customers.
After spending three days in Mumbai, Tim Cook reached Delhi yesterday for the opening of Apple Saket in South Delhi’s Select Citywalk Mall. Estimated to be around 8,400 square feet in carpet area, the Delhi store is just more than a third of the over 20,000 square feet and multi-floored store in Mumbai.
“We’re thrilled to bring the best of Apple to our customers in Delhi with the opening of our second store in India, Apple Saket,” said Deirdre O’Brien, Apple’s Senior Vice-President of Retail. “Our incredible team members look forward to connecting with the local community and helping them find new ways to pursue their passions and unleash their creativity through our amazing products and services.”
