The Union government is fully committed to its ambition in becoming a global player in 6G, and will support the space by creating a conducive environment for startups and enterprises to thrive in the 6G space, Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said on September 26.

“The government is keen on ensuring that India plays a pivotal role in the global 6G landscape by developing world-class technologies, testbeds, and partnerships. We are confident that with this collaborative approach, India can emerge as a leading player in 6G,” Scindia said at a high-level interaction in Bengaluru with Bharat 6G Alliance (B6GA).

Scindia emphasized the importance of making 6G a transformative force for social and economic development, particularly in rural and underserved areas, ensuring that India's growth is inclusive, according to a government statement.

The Bharat 6G Vision, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is aN initiative to make India a global leader in telecommunications by 2030.

The Bharat 6G Alliance (B6GA) is a collaborative effort involving Indian industry, academia, national research institutions, and standards organizations. It supports the Bharat 6G Mission, which focuses on creating intelligent and secure technological solutions to enhance the quality of life in India and globally.

Last year, the Bharat 6G Vision manifesto was unveiled, setting the goal for India to become a leading provider of advanced telecom technologies, aligning with the Viksit Bharat objectives.
