Speculations about OnePlus '5omething new' can now finally be put to rest as the new variant of OnePlus 5 has been unveiled in a limited edition Soft Gold avatar — sales for which will commence in India on midnight of August 9 on the OnePlus website as well as on Amazon India.
“As a maker of the most beautifully designed smartphones, it gives us immense joy to introduce the latest OnePlus 5 with even more refined and elegant Soft Gold finish this festival season. The latest OnePlus 5 Soft Gold will appeal to those who are looking for the perfect balance of beautiful design and powerful features," said Vikas Agarwal, general manager, OnePlus India at the launch event in Mumbai yesterday.
Priced at Rs 32,999 like its other coloured variants, the OnePlus 5 Soft Gold will be made available with 6 GB of RAM with 64 GB of storage.

It does not remain known, however, why the company did not choose to go for an 8 GB version of the OnePlus 5 Soft Gold variant.
The matte Soft Gold versions have become a signature colour associated with the company’s smartphones. Earlier, OnePlus 3T's Soft Gold variant was well received.
The company claims that the OnePlus 5's Soft Gold version is 30 percent finer than its previous soft gold smartphones.
According to OnePlus, it takes around 180 days to create the texture of a soft gold coating which is why this is a limited edition release.
In addition to online sales, the phone will also be made available for users at the OnePlus experience stores in Bangalore, Mall of India in Noida and Select Citywalk in New Delhi, while supplies last.
The company has also announced that the OnePlus 5 Slate Grey version with 8 GB RAM and 128GB storage will also be made available online and on OnePlus Experience stores for a price of Rs 37,999.
