After the successful launch of the Nothing Phone 2a in early 2024, many people were expecting the launch of the Nothing Phone 3 this year. However, Nothing CEO Carl Pei took on X and announced that the Nothing Phone 3 will be out in 2025. He also asserted the importance of “getting the product right” as the main reason for the delay.
Further, according to Pei, the smartphone user experience hasn’t evolved much in over a decade. Therefore, he wants to deliver a personalised user experience with the upcoming flagship and has confirmed that AI will be deeply integrated into it. Nothing also wants to deliver contextual and relevant information to its users.
He also added, “Expect to see some of these features starting to come out with the Phone 3 next year.” However, we are not exactly sure when these AI-based features will be available on existing Nothing smartphones, or the upcoming Nothing 3 will get them out of the box.
In the video, Nothing shared a demo of its AI chatbot, integrated intone of its devices. While it looked similar to existing chatbots like ChatGPT 4, the company confirmed that they will add proactive-type capabilities to its AI assistant, which is dubbed as ‘Companion’. The company said that it is also exploring ways to accommodate this AI Companion in different areas of the OS such as the lock screen, notification panel, and more.
Pei also mentioned that Nothing would offer services similar to Nintendo’s “blue ocean” strategy. This means it wants to create fun, engaging, and user-friendly products for all ages.
