Meta has announced that smartphone users will soon be able to use two WhatsApp accounts on the same device. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg made the announcement through a Facebook post.

Zuckerberg said that it would be, "Helpful for switching between accounts – such as your work and personal – now you no longer need to log out each time, carry two phones or worry about messaging from the wrong place".

As the CEO says, this means you won't have to carry an extra smartphone around to use another account. It will also help you manage multiple conversations across accounts, so you can easily switch between them using one device.

To operate two accounts, you will need two SIM cards with different phone numbers, but since most phones these days are dual SIM, this shouldn't be much of a problem.

While there isn't a release date yet for the feature, Zuckerberg said it will be out "soon", which could mean the release is not too far away.
