In yet another move to bring down its rival Snapchat, Facebook has now allowed its users' an option to make their Facebook Stories on messaging platform Messenger – public under its revised privacy settings.
The Stories feature was launched on Facebook in March this year with the very intention of being modelled on Snapchat. Earlier it allowed sharing of photos and videos only with families and friends. Now with the new settings, one can make those Stories visible to anyone on Facebook.
Instagram, the Facebook-owned social media platform for sharing photos and videos also has the Stories feature and the platform is quite popular with celebrities and users alike.
With this new public sharing feature, everyone can now even see celebrities and other people’s photos and videos on Facebook as part of the story feed.
How to do it?
To make a Facebook story public, one has to first tap on “add to story” button on the home screen, post a photo/video, then tap on the three dots or options button on the top-right hand corner of the screen. Then one has to go to ‘edit story settings” and change the setting from “friends” to “public”.
After doing this, anybody can view your stories for the next 24 hours after which the story expires on its own.
