Users in various parts of the world, including India, encountered difficulties logging into their Gmail, YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram accounts.

Approximately 500,000 Facebook users encountered difficulties logging in or accessing the site as of mid-morning Eastern Time on Tuesday, as indicated by the outage tracker Downdetector. About 50,000 reports of outages were registered for Instagram, with an additional 10,000 for Facebook Messenger.

Many turned to alternative platforms like social network X, WhatsApp, and other online portals to report network outages affecting Google and Meta-owned services.

The network outage issue across Google and Meta apps surfaced around 9 PM IST, as indicated by the social media network outage tracking platform Down Detector.

"We're aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now," Meta, Communications Director, Andy Stone said.

About an hour and a half after the outage reports started ticking up, fewer than 80,000 people were reporting issues with Facebook, according to Downdetector. Reports about Instagram and Messenger had also dropped sharply.

"The issue was resolved as quickly as for everyone who was impacted," said Andy Stone, Meta's spokesperson in a X post.  "we apologize for any inconvenience, " he added.
