Amagi has appointed Richard Perkett as its chief product officer as the media-tech unicorn gears up to expand its offerings to businesses.
Perkett joins Amagi after an over 11-year stint at NASDAQ-listed cybersecurity firm Rapid7 across multiple roles. He played a key role in building and scaling the company's offerings from a single product into a comprehensive native-SaaS cybersecurity platform with a dozen product and managed service offerings, the company said on April 29.
"As Amagi enters its next phase of growth — Amagi 2.0 — Richard’s strategic vision and deep product expertise will be instrumental in shaping the future of our product offerings," Amagi co-founder Baskar Subramanian said in a statement.
Perkett experience in building and scaling comprehensive SaaS platforms aligns perfectly with Amagi’s vision of delivering unparalleled value to its customers, he said.
Prior to Rapid7, Perkett had a five-year stint at enterprise data storage solution provider EMC Corp, which is now owned by tech giant Dell.
Overall, he has more than 25 years of experience in product management, product marketing, engineering, and user experience.
He has led SaaS-centric product strategies across multiple industries such as customer relationship management (CRM), enterprise storage, and cybersecurity, the company said in a statement.

Amagi said Perkett's appointment comes as the company looks to develop tailor-made solutions that can address various challenges faced by their customers.
"The opportunity to lead a talented product organization and contribute to shaping Amagi 2.0 is truly inspiring. I am confident that by fostering a strong product culture, we will be able to deliver even greater value to our customers and achieve remarkable growth" Perkett said in a statement.
Founded in 2008 by Subramanian, Srinivasan KA and Srividhya Srinivasan, Amagi enables content owners to launch, distribute and monetise live linear channels and on-demand channels across free-ad-supported television and video services platforms via a suite of solutions.
Overall, Amagi supports more than 800 content brands, 800-plus playout chains, and over 3,800 channel deliveries on its platform across more than 150 countries, the company said.
Among its clients are NBCUniversal, The Roku Channel, Vice Media, ABS-CBN, AccuWeather, A+E Networks UK, Cinedigm, Cox Media Group, Crackle Plus, Fremantle, Gannett, Gusto TV, and Tastemade.
The company has raised $345 million to date from investors such as Accel, Norwest Venture Partners, Avataar Ventures, Premji Invest and Nadathur Holdings.
Amagi was last valued at $1.4 billion when it raised over $100 million from private-equity firm General Atlantic in November 2022.
