NIT Warangal is having quite the placement season. It started its placement season on the 15th of August and has already placed a 21-year old student in his fourth year of BTech Computer Science at Facebook. The student will get a pay package of Rs. 45 lakhs per year, the highest ever pay package acquired from Warangal's placement program. The institute has said that the student will be joining the technical wing at Facebook as soon as he finishes his course in March of next year. Previously at Warangal, the highest pay package any student had received through the institute's placement program was Rs. 20 lakhs per year. This year seems to be a good year because, NIT also said that this student in particular is not the only one to receive such a hefty offer.

According to sources, salary offers have ranged anywhere between Rs. 5 to Rs. 12 lakhs per year. Around 30 students from the computer science department have already been offered jobs. The placement program began on the 15th of August and is expected to go on until March of next year. It seems tech companies have done away with their recession blues and have been hiring more new graduates this year than they did last year. Companies like Microsoft, Google, Oracle and Facebook are hiring more, and the average paypackage last year was between Rs. 6 and Rs. 7 lakhs per year.

"Most of the IT companies are willing to pay really well to bright students who get absorbed in the first or second interview. The companies who come for interviews later could offer bigger packages to students. We'll have to wait and watch what the salary trend this year is," stated an NIT official.
