Microsoft has unveiled Microsoft Elevate for Educators in India, a large-scale initiative aimed at training two million teachers in AI skills and reaching 200,000 schools by 2030. The programme forms part of the company’s broader commitment to equip 20 million people in India with AI capabilities.
In 2025, the tech giant cut its work force in India and globally by around 15,000.
India’s vocational training system is undergoing a quiet transformation as AI micro-degrees reach learners far beyond elite colleges.
These numbers come ahead of Microsoft chief executive Satya Nadella’s expected visit to India in December, where he is expected to meet the top government officials.
