Google is getting stricter about its return-to-office mandate, telling employees that badge tracking and noted attendance will be included in their performance reviews.
The development comes in the face of a much softer approach by other global companies, which continue to operate in a hybrid model, mandating only two or three days of office work per week.
Companies that ended work from home saw a spike in resignations this year, according to a survey conducted by Aon, an HR solutions firm.
India has traditionally seen peak demand late in the evening when people head back home but that has shifted to mid-afternoon when temperatures are hottest, government data shows, driven by record residential daytime use, a pick up in industrial work, and more use of irrigation pumps to tap higher solar supply.

The company’s employees will be moved to a ‘work from office on roster’ system under which they can come to the office on a pre-decided frequency.
Satya Nadella's statement came a day after Microsoft told its United States employees that it has delayed their return to offices indefinitely.
Google will also offer its employees the option to work remotely completely, based on their role and team needs.
