Epic Games has strongly criticised the UK’s new digital markets regulation, claiming it lacks teeth and fails to open up Apple’s ecosystem. As a result, the return of Fortnite and launch of the Epic Games Store on iOS in the UK remain uncertain.
“The sad truth is that Apple and Google are no longer good-faith, law-abiding companies,” Tim Sweeney said at an event. Sweeney also implied that imposing fines on Google and Apple isn’t a deterrent.

Epic has announced its own mobile game store on iOS and Android. Android users from across the globe can download it. However, only EU iOS users will get the game store on their phone.
Fortnite Season 4 features a new Battle Stage, the Jam Stage and Main Stage where you can “shred to your favourite Metallica tracks”.
The technology companies, which developed some of the most popular apps in the App Store, said Apple was in "clear violation" of the Sept. 2021 injunction by making it difficult to steer consumers to cheaper means to pay for digital content.
The game developer said it will move on with its plans to bring the Epic Games Store and the Fortnite game back to iOS in the continent.
The iPhone maker on Wednesday terminated a new developer account created by Epic in Sweden in an attempt to put Fornite and other games back on iPhones in Europe by running its own game store on Apple's devices.
The two companies have been in a legal battle since 2020, when the gaming firm alleged that Apple's practice of charging up to 30% commissions on in-app payments on its iPhone Operating System (iOS) devices violated U.S. antitrust rules.
The new games and entertainment universe will enable consumers to play, watch, create and shop for both digital and physical goods, said Disney CEO Bob Iger.
The justices also decided not to hear Apple's appeal of the same decision, which barred certain App Store rules.

The lawsuit began in 2020 after Fortnite was kicked off the Play Store and Apple's App Store for violating its terms.
The figure had been revealed by University of Chicago economics professor, Kevin Murphy, who was responding to questions from Alphabet Inc.'s lead attorney.
