Government today said all efforts will be made to get Parliamentary approval for Companies Bill 2009, in the ongoing session itself.
Coinciding with International Women's Day, the Corporate Affairs Ministry on Tuesday said it would make it mandatory for companies having five or more independent directors to have at least one female independent director.
This is a special series on the Parliamentary Standing Committee's recommendation of a Code for Independent Directors in the Companies Bill 2009.
The Companies Bill 2009, which seeks to replace a half-a-century-old Act, will be presented in Parliament in the ongoing Budget session, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee today said.
