Hours after former Pakistan foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto threatened India of waging a war if New Delhi proceeds with changes to the Indus Water Treaty, Actor-turned-Bharatiya Janata Party leader Mithun Chakraborty on Tuesday slammed Bhutto's fresh warning remarking that Islamabad will have to pay a heavy price if such statements are repeated time and again.
Speaking to reporters in Kolkata, Chakraborty said, “Agar aisi baatein karte rahenge aur humari khopdi sanak gayi toh phir ek ke baad ek BrahMos chalega (If such statements continue and we lose our patience, then BrahMos missiles will be launched one after another).”
Issuing a statement, laced with sarcasm, Chakraborty further said, “We have also thought of building a dam where 140 crore people will pee. After that, we will open the dam, and a tsunami will occur. I have nothing against the people of Pakistan. I have said all of this for him (Bilawal Bhutto).”
Speaking at an event organised by the culture department of the government of Sindh, Bilawal Bhutto claimed the diversion of the Indus River’s water away from Pakistan is as an attack on the history, culture, and civilisation of the country - particularly Sindh.

Additionally, an alarming address at a private dinner in Tampa, Florida, Pakistan Army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir issued a chilling warning regarding the Indus Waters Treaty. Munir vowed that Pakistan would launch missile strikes on Indian dams if the treaty remains suspended.
Speaking to members of the Pakistani diaspora, he said, “We will wait for India to build a dam, and when it does so, phir 10 missile sey faarigh kar dengey [we will destroy it with 10 missiles].”
The statement was delivered at a black-tie event hosted by Pakistan’s honorary consul in Tampa, with about 120 diaspora members present. Phones and digital devices were banned, and no official transcript was issued, but multiple eyewitnesses have shared details with media outlets.
