After Wintrack Inc., a small global trading company, announced that it would cease all import and export operations in India, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said it is “truly dismaying”.
In a post on X, the Congress leader said, “Corruption remains rampant across the system and most companies simply comply as part of the “price of doing business”. It doesn’t have to be this way. Indeed, it must not be like this if the country is to grow and prosper.”
Tamil Nadu-based Wintrack Inc announced on X that it would cease its import-export operations in India from October 1, citing “relentless harassment” by Chennai Customs over the last 45 days.
“From October 1, 2025, our company will cease import/export activities in India,” Wintrack wrote in a statement shared on X. “For the past 45 days, Chennai Customs officials have relentlessly harassed us. After exposing their bribery practices twice this year, they retaliated, effectively crippling our operations and destroying our business in India. We deeply thank everyone who has supported us during these difficult times,”the company said in a statement.
