Congress leader and Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor suffered a foot fracture after tripping on the stairs at the Parliament complex on Wednesday, his team said a day later.

On Thursday, Tharoor’s office took to X and informed, “After an X-ray this morning, Dr Shashi Tharoor’s injury has been confirmed as a fracture. He’s in good spirits and will continue with parliamentary work and other engagements as feasible (perhaps on a wheelchair). Thank you for all the good wishes!”

Despite the injury, he attended the ongoing Parliament session on Thursday, arriving at the House in a wheelchair and later leaving in the same manner.

On his injury, the Congress MP said, "The whole morning, I have spent in the clinic. I went for an X-ray and had to visit a hospital. I could not even attend the party meeting. When I came out of the Parliament (yesterday), I fell down. I unfortunately have a hairline fracture. But I will attend the Parliament and chair my committee meeting next week, but unfortunately, in a wheelchair."

After Tharoor tripped, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and several other MPs and staff members came forward, helping him get back on his feet.
