The party workers of Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) have reportedly threatened the employees of a Bank, according to CNN-News18. More details about the incident are awaited.

Last year in August, MNS workers caused chaos at a bank in Nagpur, allegedly assaulting a bank staffer and smearing his face with black paint.

According to reports citing sources, the Yes Bank branch had provided a loan to a man named Indrajit Baliram Mule for the purchase of a JCB machine. After he failed to pay the instalments, the bank seized the equipment. Angered by this action, a group of MNS workers reached the branch, located on Mount Road.

Videos circulating from the scene showed several MNS members wearing orange scarves rushing into the bank and heading upstairs. They entered a large hall where they reportedly attacked one of the employees, while some others filmed the incident on their mobile phones.

Over the month, there were several incidents involving MNS workers confronting and allegedly assaulting people, often linked to language-related issues, in the run-up to the recently concluded civic elections in Maharashtra.

In Sindhudurg, MNS members protesting against illegal liquor sales allegedly placed garlands of liquor bottles around the neck of excise inspector Milind Garud.

In another incident in Kalyan near Mumbai, party workers reportedly slapped the director of a coaching institute and hurled a water bottle at him, accusing the centre of charging high fees while failing to conduct classes properly.

After the high-profile civic elections, Thackeray had struck a defiant note, admitting the party’s performance was below expectations but exhorting the newly elected corporators to make municipal houses into battlegrounds against what he described as the “rule of money power” and policies he said were harmful to Marathi interests.

Thackeray, while addressing party workers and supporters, congratulated elected corporators of both the MNS and Shiv Sena, noting that the elections were fought in unfavourable situations.

Even as he admitted that the MNS failed to secure its desired mandate, Thackeray stressed that the electoral loss would not blunt the party’s political sharpness.

Separately, after the Mahayuti secured a comfortable majority in the 227-member BMC House, Thackeray had said that those in power will "not let go of any opportunity" to harass the Marathi people.
