'I have already promised' statehood of Jammu and Kashmir will be restored at appropriate time: Home Minister Amit Shah in Rajya Sabha
Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed the Rajya Sabha and hailed the Supreme Court verdict upholding the validity of the Centre's decision to abrogate Article 370 that granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
The Jammu & Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, which paves the way for increasing the seats in the J&K legislative Assembly from 83 to 90, has been passed in the Rajya Sabha. The legislation was cleared in the Parliament's Upper House by voice vote.

- "Several questions were raised even the day before yesterday. In Lok Sabha, it was said that the Bill is pending and is being brought in haste. Supreme Court will do justice and we should wait for it. All these stands were not for justice but to halt the decisions taken by PM Modi," Shah said.

- "Former PM Jawaharlal Nehru was seeing (accession of) Jammu and Kashmir (after Independence) and he left it incomplete. So many regions of the country that seemed difficult than J&K joined India but why was Article 370 brought for Kashmir"
- "Today, the future of youth in J&K is not black but the blackboard of school has become their future. The youth who used to be involved in stone-pelting have been given laptops," Shah said.
