Prime Minister Narendra Modi began a three-day visit to the US on September 21 to participate in the Quad summit and address the 'Summit of the Future' at the UN General Assembly. During his trip, he is scheduled to meet with US President Joe Biden, where they will "review and explore new pathways to deepen the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership for the benefit of our people and global welfare."

PM Modi’s Itinerary for US visit (September 21-23, 2024):

Day 1: September 21 (Wilmington, Delaware)

  • Arrival in Wilmington, Delaware.
  • Participation in the Fourth Quad Leaders’ Summit.
  • Discussion on reviewing the Quad's progress over the past year.
  • The summit aims to review the progress made by the Quad nations—India, the United States, Japan, and Australia—over the past year and outline future strategies for promoting peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
  • Setting the agenda for future initiatives aimed at supporting Indo-Pacific development goals. The Summit is anticipated to conclude with a leaders’ declaration emphasizing the group's commitment to promoting peace, prosperity, and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. Key discussion topics will include health security, climate change, emerging technologies, connectivity, maritime security, and counter-terrorism efforts. A significant highlight of the summit will be the launch of the "Cancer Moonshot" initiative, which aims to prevent, detect, treat, and alleviate the impact of cancer. Initially, member countries will focus on collaborating to reduce the burden of cervical cancer in the Indo-Pacific region.
  • Bilateral meetings with leaders from the US, Japan, and Australia.
  • In the bilteral meeting with President Biden, PM Modi is expected to sign two agreements with the US - Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF), and sign Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the India-US drug framework.

  • Bilateral meetings with world leaders on the sidelines of the summit to discuss mutual interests.

  • Departure from the United States and return to India.
