Named the Konkan Expressway, this proposed Greenfield Expressway will be built along the scenic Konkan coast.

If you search "Mumbai Goa travel time" on Google, the result shows 12 hours for a distance of 601 km.

Now imagine this: a new expressway will cut that travel time from 12 hours to just 6. Named the Konkan Expressway, this proposed Greenfield Expressway will be built along the scenic Konkan coast.

The Maharashtra government is planning a new 376-kilometer Mumbai-Goa Expressway to connect the two cities. The project is estimated to cost an impressive Rs 68,000 crore and will require around 3,792 hectares of land, including 146 hectares of forest land, according to a report in DNA.

The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) will oversee the development of this 376 km long, 6-lane access-controlled expressway.

According to the DNA, the proposed Greenfield Expressway will run along the scenic Konkan coast. Notably, the preparation work for Konkan Expressway’s Detailed Project Report (DPR) has already commenced.

The new expressway will link Sindhudurg to Panvel (Navi Mumbai), passing through Raigad and Ratnagiri. Currently, the journey between Mumbai and Sindhudurg takes 12 to 13 hours.
