Polling for the Maharashtra Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections will be held on February 5, with counting scheduled for February 7, State Election Commissioner Dinesh T Waghmare announced on Tuesday.
The elections will be conducted in 12 Zilla Parishads and 125 Panchayat Samitis where there is no dispute related to the 50 per cent reservation cap, Waghmare said. Polling will take place in Raigarh, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Pune, Satara, Sangli, Solapur, Kolhapur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Parbhani, Dharashiv and Latur districts.
The State Election Commission clarified that elections in areas where polling is not being conducted are pending before the Supreme Court, and a decision on those constituencies will be taken after the court delivers its verdict.
Around 2.09 crore voters are eligible to participate in the elections. The voter list published as of July 1, 2025, will be used, officials said, adding that strict action will be taken against cases of double voting. Voters can verify their details through a dedicated mobile application or the official website.
As per the election schedule, nomination papers can be filed between January 16 and January 21, while scrutiny will take place on January 22. The last date for withdrawal of nominations is January 27 until 3:00 pm. The final list of candidates along with allotment of election symbols will be announced on January 27 after 3:30 pm. Polling on February 5 will be held from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, and counting of votes will begin at 10:00 am on February 7.
Following the announcement of the election programme, the Model Code of Conduct has come into force in all concerned electoral areas across Maharashtra.
