'Khata khat order aate hai': Rahul mocks PM Modi over 'connection with God' remark

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday mounted an all-out offensive on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP government during his address in Lok Sabha, saying that decisions like demonetisation decimated the small and medium businesses.

Taking a dig at PM Modi over his remark that he feels that he was chosen by God, Rahul, who is the leader of opposition, said that maybe it was the almighty that ordered the Prime Minister to scrap Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes in 2016.

In the middle of his speech, Rahul quipped that "Shri Ram gave BJP another message in Ayodhya", referring to the saffron party's sub-par performance in Uttar Pradesh and its candidate losing the Faizabad seat, which houses the Ram Temple.

He added that several such messages are relayed to PM Modi by God. "Several other orders also come like this - like giving Mumbai airport to Adani and he does it - khata khat, khata khat, khata khat order aate hai," he said.

Rahul said that due to note ban, the small or medium business, who are the backbone of the country, were completely eliminated.

"Today, as a result, whatever the government does, it will not be able to create jobs for the youths," he said.

He said that such decisions (demonetisation, GST, etc) were taken to favor only a few industrialists.

He recounted that when he spoke to textile owners in Gujarat, they claimed that PM Modi works only for select billionaires. Rahul asserted that Congress and opposition bloc INDIA will defeat BJP in Gujarat in the next elections.
